Tirzepatide is used for weight loss in adults.
Tirzepatide works for weight loss by decreasing appetite and slowing the movement of food from the stomach into the small intestine, which may make you feel full more quickly and for a longer period of time. In type 2 diabetes, tirzepatide decreases blood sugar levels by increasing insulin production and lowering the amount of sugar the liver makes. Tirzepatide is given as an injection under the skin once a week. Tirzepatide is a GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist.

Tirzepatide Dosing information
Usual Zepbound Dose for Weight Loss (Adult)

Initial dose: 2.5 mg under the skin (subcutaneously) once a week.

After 4 weeks: The dosage should be increased to 5 mg subcutaneously once a week.

Further dose increases: After at least 4 weeks on the current dose the dosage may be increased in 2.5 mg increments.

Recommended maintenance dose: 5 mg, 10 mg, or 15 mg injected subcutaneously once weekly.

Maximum dose: 15 mg subcutaneously once a week.
